BEIRUT: Part-time workers at service provider TRICOM blocked the main entrance of the Electricite Du Liban in Beirut Monday in protest over two months’ delay in receiving their wages.
Over 50 workers locked the gates of the state-run company’s headquarters and placed vegetable boxes outside the building to underscore that their livelihoods were at stake.
The security forces were working on reopening the EDL headquarters.
Demonstrators called on all EDL employees to stop operations as well as maintenance and repair services in the meantime.
Workers at TRICOM, a private firm that provides services to EDL, have protested in the past over delays in payments.
