BEIRUT: Health Ministry inspectors shut a cheese store south of Beirut Thursday over violations of food safety standards, the ministry announced in a statement.
The store, which according to a picture released by the ministry, is located inside a motorbike repair shop, did not meet “the minimum of health standards,” the statement said.
The statement identified the owner as Samer N.D., and said the shop was located in the Tiro neighborhood of Shoueifat.
The move was the latest in a nationwide crackdown on food safety violations that Health Minister Wael Abu Faour launched in November.
