BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army said Monday that it has referred two Syrian men to the judiciary on suspicion of belonging to terrorist organizations.
The Army identified the suspects as Ahmad Atef Jenayat and Saleh Mohammad Halloum, according to a statement.
Jenayat, suspected links to the so-called Monzer al-Hassan terrorist group, allegedly supplied the group with explosive material for the purpose of carrying out attacks, the statement said.
Halloum is accused of belonging to an unspecified terrorist group.
Both men are also accused of involvement in deadly Tripoli clashes that had rocked the northern city over the past three years. The statement added that the men had tossed hand grenades at Army centers in the city.
Monzer al-Hassan, a terror suspect, was killed in July during a raid on his apartment in Tripoli. Hassan allegedly provided explosive belts and material to a terrorist cell that was planning to carry out major attacks in Lebanon.
