Frangieh slams US bid to make choices for Lebanon

BEIRUT: Hezbollah arms maintain Lebanon’s sovereignty and Washington cannot make other countries do what the U.S. administration wants, says Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh.

“The axis of resistance is strong and America cannot impose its will on it,” Frangieh told a local television channel Sunday night, in reference to Iran, Syria and Hezbollah.

“The resistance choice will win,” he stressed, pointing out that the political divide in Lebanon is “sharp.”

He said Hezbollah has an essential role and that the party’s weapons “uphold Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty.”
