BEIRUT: The Health Ministry Tuesday filed a slew of complaints against hospitals, a pharmaceutical company and street vendors over reports of violations.
In the Beirut suburb of Hadath, Health Minister Wael Abu Faour referred the case of Sainte Thérèse Hospital where an infant died during treatment to the Order of Physicians.
A ministry statement said the father of the child who died at the hospital four months ago had issued a complaint against it and called for investigations into the child's death.
Separately, Abu Faour referred a complaint issued against the Bchamoun Specialty Hospital after a patient claimed that he was unnecessarily hospitalized for 18 days.
Abu Faour also referred other complaints filed against the Al-Sayiddah hospital in Zghorta. The reasons behind the complaint were not mentioned.
And in the Beirut suburb of Dekweneh, the ministry issued a warning against Tamer pharmaceuticals, which was accused of selling unlicensed medication purchased from the Richa Dental Store in Hazmieh.
The Health Ministry also raided a market in the Bekaa town of Saadneyel and seized unidentified quantities of spices and Arabic sweets. The ministry also issued warnings to vendors in the market who were selling food from open carts.
The ministry gave vendors one week to address their violations.
