Beirut police release photo of missing Alzheimer's patient



BEIRUT: Police Thursday released a photo of an old man suffering from Alzheimer's disease whose family has been searching for him since he went missing in Beirut Wednesday.


The man was identified as Ahmad Abel-Ghani al-Daas, a 71-year-old Syrian national.


He was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Manara area of Ras Beirut, near the Riyadi sports club. According to the police statement, the man suffers from Alzheimer's disease, which will affect his ability to return home or contact his family.


It described Daas as light skinned with white hair, a light mustache and about 165 cm tall. He was wearing black pants and a black nylon jacket when he disappeared.


Police asked anyone who has seen the man or has any information about him to visit the Ras Beirut police station in Hamra, or to call 01/740942 or 01/856915.
