BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army said Saturday that it detained 900 people of various nationalities in the month of May.
In a statement, the military said the arrests came as part of measures taken to impose security in various Lebanese regions in May.
Some of the detainees had warrants against them, while others had entered the country illegally. Among the charges was drug possession as well as driving vehicles and motorcycles without proper documentation.
The measures also resulted in the confiscation of 156 vehicles, 48 motorcycles, seven fishing boats, military gear, drugs and weapons.
