Pike will spend $1.5M on bridge replacement

Pike County will pay more than $1.5 million to replace the Leatherwood Road bridge that crosses Topisaw Creek.

The Enterprise-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1ic1spD ) the county Board of Supervisors on Thursday accepted a bid of $1,552,821 bid from L&A Contracting of Hattiesburg for the project.

Board President Chuck Lambert says the Brent Road bridge north of there will be replaced next.

Supervisors also will include a plan to control erosion on the Bogue Chitto River near the Holmesville bridge as an addition to that project.
