Lebanon is fine, summer will be good: Machnouk

BEIRUT: Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk Monday played down the impact of a power vacuum in Lebanon, saying the country is fine and summer will be good.

“[Power] vacuum is part of the political conflict,” he told a breakfast banquet given in his honor by Fawzi Zeidan, the head of the Beirut Families’ Association.

“I’m not worried about the current phase. Lebanon is fine and summer is going to be good,” he said. “ Beirut always gets up and stands on its feet."

“Some believe that Beirut is city full of chaos like it appears in some pictures, but we say that Beirut is a well-kept city,” Machnouk said.

He said Beirut is overwhelmed by love and the ability to absorb successful trading under international standards.
