HERMEL, Lebanon: Security forces Thursday discovered two rockets - already fitted into launchpads and ready to be used - directed toward the eastern Bekaa Valley town of Nabi Othman, a security source said.
The rockets were found on the outskirts of the northeastern town of Arsal, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Daily Star.
Nabi Othman, a predominantly Shiite village associated with Hezbollah, last month witnessed a suicide car bombing that killed two members of the party and wounded 11 others.
The attack was claimed by Nusra Front in Lebanon, an offshoot of the radical group fighting in Syria, who cited Hezbollah’s military role alongside regime forces there.
Similar radical groups have also claimed responsibility for rocket attacks against Shiite Bekaa Valley towns.
Tensions between Arsal, a Sunni majority town that supports the Syrian opposition, and its Shiite neighbors have soared in recent week over the crisis in Syria.
