WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The chairman of the North Carolina State Ports Authority Board is resigning.
The StarNews of Wilmington reported (http://bit.ly/1k3McBx) that Danny McComas announced his decision Wednesday. Two years remain on his term in office. He was appointed by Gov. Beverly Perdue in 2012.
The move comes just after Paul Cozza was named as executive director of the ports authority.
McComas served 18 years in the General Assembly. He owns a trucking company in Wilmington. Gov. Pat McCrory will fill the vacancy and name a new chairman.
The board oversees operations at the ports of Wilmington and Morehead City, as well as terminals in Charlotte and Greensboro and a marina in Southport.
