Police detain four Syrians in Lebanon border town


BEIRUT: Police said late Friday that they detained four Syrians and confiscated two vehicles in the border town of Wadi Hamyed.


In a statement, the Internal Security Forces said it received information about two suspicious vehicles parked in Wadi Hamyed on the border with Syria after a Lebanese Army checkpoint.


A police unit headed to the area and detained four Syrians, identified by their initials as A.D., 27; A.Q., 26; A.M., 20; and M.A., 24.


They were in possession of a hand grenade, six knives, cellular phones, wireless communication devices and gold watches.


The unit also confiscated two four-wheel drive vehicles: a black Hyundai with no identification documents and a Grand Cherokee with a Lebanese license plate.
