Sleiman appoints Charbel as military adviser

BEIRUT: President Michel Sleiman has appointed former Interior Minister Marwan Charbel as his military adviser, Charbel confirmed Sunday.

Charbel told The Daily Star that the president appointed him in the post “to benefit from my expertise in the field.”

He said his new post includes “supervising coordination between security forces.”

Charbel succeeds Abdul-Muttaleb Al-Hinawi in the post after Hinawi was appointed Youth and Sports Minister in Prime Minister Tammam Salam's new Cabinet, announced Saturday.
