LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Federal regulators are taking public comment on Kinder Morgan's plans to feed natural gas to Magnolia LNG's proposed liquid natural gas plant in Lake Charles.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will accept comment until Sept. 10 on the plan, which includes construction of a compressor station near Eunice.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the station would send 1.36 billion cubic feet of natural gas each day to Magnolia's plant via a connection to the Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline.
The estimated $3.7 billion cost of the Magnolia project includes four liquid natural gas trains, each producing 2 million tons of liquid gas each year.
The liquid gas would be stored in two, 160,000-cubic-meter cryogenic tanks.
If approved by federal officials, construction would begin by fall 2015.
