WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is spending a day with a Minneapolis mother who wrote to him about her struggles to make ends meet. He's aiming to put a human face on the economic policies Democrats are championing.
The president opens a two-day visit Thursday to Minnesota. He'll hold a town hall meeting, headline a Democratic fundraiser and speak about raising the minimum wage.
The trip's centerpiece is the time Obama will spend with 36-year-old Rebekah Erler of St. Anthony, Minnesota. Her letter made its way to Obama's desk.
Obama and Erler are scheduled to have lunch and make a number of stops in the Minneapolis area. The White House says it's the first of a series of "Day in the Life" visits Obama will make this summer.
