Jumblatt denies Paris trip to meet Hariri

BEIRUT: Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt Monday denied plans for an imminent visit to Paris for talks with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

“I am still in Beirut; and when the time comes for [such] a meeting, it will be officially announced to avoid the flood of incorrect speculation,” Jumblatt said in a statement.

Jumblatt and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil were reportedly planning separate visits to Paris for talks with Hariri over the presidential election stalemate.

The Daily Star was not able to reach Jumblatt or Bassil for comments on the reported trips.
