BEIRUT: Two Tripoli militia leaders handed in themselves to Army Intelligence Thursday, security sources told The Daily Star.
Ziad Allouke and Saad al-Masri, two of the most prominent gunmen in the city, surrendered voluntarily to the Army at 2:00 p.m.
The two leaders contacted Army Intelligence and informed them about their whereabouts, the sources said.
Stability was restored in Tripoli in April after the authorities enacted a security plan to end intermittent Syria-linked clashes that have plagued the city for nearly three years.
The judiciary issued hundreds of arrest warrants against those involved in the clashes, some of whom remain at large.
