Man kidnapped in east Lebanon

HERMEL, Lebanon: A Lebanese man was kidnapped Friday in east Lebanon, sparking protests calling for his release, security sources told The Daily Star.

Ibrahim Shiha was kidnapped by unidentified assailants in the Zahle town of Riyaq, the sources said.

The sources said that residents blocked the Riyaq-Baalbek road in protest of Shiha’s abduction and called for his release.

The National News Agency said the abductors were riding in a black Cherokee and a silver Mercedes when they snatched Shiha.

The NNA identified Shiha as the owner of al-Amin restaurant in east Lebanon.
