BEIRUT: The funeral of an Al-Manar technician killed in Syria earlier this week was held Wednesday in his hometown of Hermel, in east Lebanon, with hundreds and possibly thousands of mourners turning out to pay their respects.
The funeral procession started from the Hermel's Martyr's Square as hundreds carried the coffin of the deceased, which was draped with a Hezbollah flag.
Technician Halim Allaw was among the three Al-Manar staff who were covering the Syrian army’s takeover of the Christian town of Maaloula in Syria’s Qalamoun region when their vehicle came under heavy fire Monday.
The two other victims, Mazah hajj Hasan and Mohammad Mantash were laid to rest Tuesday in their respective villages. Their funerals were also heavily attended.
